Blastoff! SpaceX launches first Starlink batch of 2025, nails landing
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched 24 Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Jan. 6, 2025 at 3:43 p.m ET (2043 GMT). It was the first Starlink satellite launch of 2025. The Falcon 9's first stage returned to Earth about eight minutes after liftoff as planned, touching down on the SpaceX droneship "Just Read the Instructions" stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. 3 years of Solar Orbiter imagery of the sun time-lapsed with flares sonified
The Solar Orbiter's Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) instrument captured imagery of the sun over the last few years. The solar flares (blue circles) are shown using data from the spacecraft's Spectrometer/Telescope for Imaging X-rays (STIX) instrument. "The accompanying audio is a sonification based on the detected flares and the spacecraft's distance to the Sun, according to ESA.
